Mine

The word has reared its ugly head once again in our household. Sophie started using it (correctly I may add) this weekend. Whenever her sister or brother approach, she clutches her object, scrunches up her face and says with passion "mine". At first we though it was just her, but today I realized Chloe says it too. Although hers is not as clear, she has apparently been saying it for quite some time now. Hers sounds more like "maa". I used to think she was calling for me until I saw her yell it in a long drawn out way directly into Sophie's face when she tried to take her My Little Pony. The sibling rivalry has now shifted into a word war, not just a physical war. Should I play referee or see how it plays out?...

Hi Stephanie! I'm just stopping by trying to win my necklace, lol! Seriously, your kiddos are precious. One of my triplets just learned to say "mine" too... not sure where he heard it either! Nice to meet you!

Oooof. Mine is a tough one...and I wish I could say the declarations of the word stop by age 8...the in-the-face yelling of just the one word does, but still some good heated "discussions." ;)

The when to ref and when not to ref is always a debate for me too...even to this day!

Following now, thanks to the friends at Multiples and More!

I am here from Twin-spiration.com. I have identical girls that are gonna be 7 this year. Just a heads up...you should have your twins tested. They are identical. I did WAY too much research when I was pregnant and found out that 30% of identical twins are born in separate placentas. I have had SO many friends that the doctor tells them that they are fraternal as soon as he sees two placentas, when in fact many of those have had their babies tested and they are identical.
Just remember that they will never look the same to you, cuz you are mom. So that doesn't count. :)
Identical twins do things that fraternals don't do...
They are usually further apart in weight than fraternals...(fraternals can be one ounce apart and identical are usually more than a couple ounces different). Also, they will go to the bathroom within 10 minutes of each other, they will crawl, roll over, etc. within a couple days of each other, they generally will get sick together, same ear, same time, etc. They will be usually 1/4 of an inch in height different, a half a pound in weight and a half of shoe size different. And the biggest thing that I found out about identical twins that is true with all identicals...one of them has an oval face and one has a round face. Think about identical twins you know and you can pick out who has what. Why that is, I will never know. But then they will get their teeth if not on the same day, same tooth...very close to each other where fraternals...one will have 17 teeth and one will have 5. The first thing to check would be their blood type...the hospital will have a record of that. If that is the same, I would probably have them tested just so you know. Having identical is a whole different ball game to fraternal, so it might be good to know. :)
I know you didn't ask, but looking at your twins...one has an oval face, one has a round face and they look exactly alike.
Have a happy Easter!

Oh...one more thing (as if my last post was not long enough)...anyone can have identical twins. It's not a family passed down thing. Medical society doesn't know why your body splits that egg...so they don't know who will do it and who won't...but they do know that identical are a fluke of nature. They can't explain anything about them. And in the picture of the girls on the front of your blog, the one on the left has the oval face and the one of the right has the round face. I am sure it doesn't matter one way or another to you...because they are absolutely beautiful and healthy...but I think it is a good thing to know as they get older. I highly recommend the book...One and the same. Written by an identical twin about identical twins. Very interesting and would help you understand their twinship.
Happy Easter again...
